Who’s behind Lupe?

Our names are Stacey Kane and Gianfranco Villar and we’re both bakers with a collective 15 years of industry experience. We met in 2018 working at Bub and Grandma’s, a wholesale bakery in East L.A. It was hard work - we made thousands of loaves and worked hundreds of graveyard shifts - but suffice to say we both found a passion for bread there, as well as a strong mutual trust in each other. A couple cities and several jobs later, we find ourselves in a little Queens apartment with our two cats and a humble cottage bakery.

We decided to work together to explore our creativity, not just in the food we make, but in the way we do business. As craftspeople, we’re committed to showcasing local ingredients made by honest producers, to sharing profits with our neighbors in need, and to offering our community consistently delicious bread, pizza, and pastry.

We like to make simple, comforting food and we’re excited to share our craft with you!
